Michele grew up in Northern California and lived there until her husband’s job with USAA brought her family of six to Phoenix in 2007. After receiving her bachelor of arts degree in journalism from California State University Sacramento, she spent seven years as a newspaper reporter and editor for a community newspaper. She then transitioned to corporate communications, working for the California Building Industry Association, a trade association of homebuilders.
After giving birth to her second child, she decided to spend more time at home. She switched gears and began freelance writing, working for numerous magazines and websites, primarily focusing on real estate and home-improvement. She worked at home, volunteered at her children’s schools weekly, and had two more children (twins). Her writing has appeared on Angie’s List, Popular Mechanics, Sacramento Business Journal, Realty Times, Smart Homeowner, Safewise, California Builder, among other publications and websites.
In 2012 her daughter performed in her first PYBT The Nutcracker Suite as a rosebud. After her first show, the 8-year-old girl was beaming and proclaimed, “This is the best day of my life.” Her daughter is just as excited three years later as she continues her involvement with PYBT, which has become a second home.
Michele chose to join the board because she has been in awe of the staff of highly trained instructors, a nurturing peer atmosphere, inspiring artistic direction, and a professional production of The Nutcracker Suite each holiday season. She is excited to join the board in helping PYBT dancers reach their full potential.
